Installation Guide

Learn how to properly install and position your VitaTemp sensors for optimal performance and accurate temperature monitoring.

Installation Process

1

Create an Account on LST Vita

Download the app and set up your monitoring account

  • Go to app store and download LST Vita App
  • If you don't have an account click 'Sign-up'
  • Create your account and follow the setup instructions
2

Gateway Installation

Set up your LoRaWAN gateway for data transmission

  • Choose a central location relative to all sensors
  • Attach the antenna, Ethernet cable, and power cable
  • Connect the Ethernet cable to your router
  • Power on the Gateway
  • Confirm the three indicator lights are on: Ethernet, Power, and LoRa
3

Sensor Installation

Activate and install your temperature sensors

  • Press and hold the 'ACT' button on the front of the sensor to power it on. Once it starts blinking (about 3 seconds), you can release
  • Click the 'Add Sensor' to add your temperature sensors in the app
  • Mount the sensor inside the refrigerator
  • Ensure the sensor is securely mounted
4

Configure Alerts

Set up temperature and humidity alert thresholds

  • Open the LST Vita app and select your sensor
  • Set minimum and maximum temperature limits per sensor
  • Configure humidity alerts if needed
  • Enable notifications under Settings > Notifications > General Notifications
  • Test alerts by temporarily adjusting thresholds

Optional: Probe Installation (For Weak Signal)

3b

Probe Installation

Use the probe when the sensor signal is weak or when you need to mount the sensor outside the refrigerator.

  • Attach the probe to the sensor
  • Mount the probe inside the refrigerator
  • Mount the sensor outside the refrigerator
  • Enable the probe in the app (note: this will disable humidity readings)

To Enable Probe in App:

  1. Select Temperature Sensor
  2. Select the pencil in the top right corner
  3. Scroll to the bottom and enable the probe

Placement Guidelines

Temperature Accuracy

Do

  • Place away from direct sunlight
  • Avoid heat sources (ovens, heaters, lights)
  • Mount at representative height (4-6 feet)
  • Ensure good air circulation

Don't

  • Don't place near windows
  • Avoid drafty areas
  • Don't mount on exterior walls
  • Avoid areas with temperature fluctuations

Signal Strength

Do

  • Maintain line of sight to gateway when possible
  • Keep within 2,000 feet of gateway
  • Mount higher for better signal
  • Test signal strength before final placement

Don't

  • Don't place behind metal objects
  • Avoid thick concrete walls
  • Don't place in metal enclosures
  • Avoid areas with RF interference

Environmental Protection

Do

  • Use in dry, indoor environments
  • Protect from moisture and condensation
  • Ensure stable mounting surface
  • Keep away from chemicals

Don't

  • Don't expose to water or rain
  • Avoid high humidity areas without protection
  • Don't place where it can be knocked over
  • Avoid corrosive environments

Environment-Specific Guidelines

Walk-in Coolers

Target Range: 35-38°F

  • Mount away from door and evaporator
  • Protect from condensation
  • Consider multiple sensors for large units

Freezers

Target Range: 0 to -10°F

  • Use cold-rated batteries
  • Allow for longer transmission intervals
  • Mount away from defrost cycles

Dry Storage

Target Range: 50-70°F

  • Monitor both temperature and humidity
  • Place away from loading docks
  • Consider seasonal temperature changes

Pharmaceutical Storage

Target Range: 68-77°F

  • Follow USP guidelines
  • Document sensor calibration
  • Use multiple sensors for redundancy

Maintenance & Battery Replacement

Regular Maintenance

  • Check battery level monthly in the app
  • Clean sensor housing quarterly
  • Verify alert settings are current
  • Test alerts periodically

Battery Replacement

  • Replace when battery shows 20% or less
  • Use high-quality lithium batteries
  • Sensor will resume automatically after replacement
  • Expected battery life: 10 years
